about

A record influenced by hip hop and electronica, aside from the norm for Flower Coronet. Probably the most accessible record to date if you're looking for a starting point, but a quiet release for me!

credits

released May 3, 2015

Live instruments, production, mixing, mastering, and album art by Andrew Grannis. Produced between June and December of 2013.

Musical samples: Tracks 5 and 10 include small portions from mystery 45s I got for $5 at Salzer's in Ventura. (Frankly, I have no clue who to credit.) Track 10 also includes a sample from The Bad Plus' "Rhinoceros is My Profession." Track 13 samples a recording of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition."

Vocal samples: Track 4 from "Being John Malkovich." Track 10 from "Se7en," several YouTube videos on self-harm, and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Track 13 from a delightful educational video on hormones.

Flower Coronet is...

... "a Lo-fi, Dumbwaiter new jazz consequence that employs mathy riffs, fusion precision, and an intense instrumental chamber-rock narrative." -SPREAD

"...like if Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker started swinging while on tour with a math rock band."
